IMPORTATION OF LACTATING DAIRY CATTLE

All lactating dairy cattle being imported into Florida must meet the testing and movement requirements of the Federal Order Requiring Testing for and Reporting of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in Livestock (4/24/24) (“Federal Order”) and APHIS Requirements and Recommendations for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) H5N1 Virus in Livestock For State Animal Health Officials, Accredited Veterinarians and Producers (4/26/24) (“APHIS Requirements”), both of which are hereby adopted and incorporated by reference. The Case Definition for Avian Influenza (AI) (April 2024) cited within the APHIS Requirements is also hereby adopted and incorporated by reference. These documents are available for review at fdacs.gov/Divisions-Offices/Animal-Industry.

APPLICABLE REGULATIONS FOR THIS MOVE

  1. Official identification required.

  2. Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian 30 days before entry, with official ID numbers recorded on the CVI.

  3. Tuberculosis accredited free herd number and date of last herd test must be recorded on the CVI.

  4. CVI must include a statement that all bulls are known to be virgins.

  1. NUES 9 tags

    • silver 'brite' tags
    • OCV/Bangs tags (orange)

  2. AIN tags

    • '840' prefix
    • '900' prefix (only for tags manufactured before March 11, 2014 and applied before March 11, 2015)
