Special conditions:

Emergency alert for HPAI in Dairy Cattle:

- In an effort to protect the dairy herd in Nebraska, NDA is issuing an importation order effective immediately. The importation order will require all breeding female dairy cattle entering the state of Nebraska to obtain a permit issued by NDA prior to entry. The new importation order will be in place until February 28, 2026 and will be re-evaluated at that time.

- Negative H5N1 test within 7 days prior to entry on lactating dairy females per the Federal Order.

- Slaughter cattle must travel with a CVI and official identification. The CVI must include a statement that the cattle are free of clinical signs of HPAI.

APPLICABLE REGULATIONS FOR THIS MOVE

  1. Official identification required.

  2. Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian 30 days before entry, UNLESS shipping directly from the farm or ranch of origin to an approved tagging site. Official ID numbers must be recorded on the CVI.

  3. The CVI must include the one of the following statements that is applicable to the bulls,

    'Males listed are not from a Trich positive herd and tested negative within the last 60 days and no exposure to breeding females.'

    'Nebraska origin breeding males exported for seasonal grazing and have not commingled with any other herd.'


Official eartags for cattle:

  1. NUES 9 tags if applied before November 5, 2024.

  2. AIN tags

    • '840' prefix
    • '900' prefix (only for tags manufactured before March 11, 2014 and applied before March 11, 2015)
